Our commitment
We want every teacher and learner to be able to use these tools, whatever device they are on and however they navigate. Accessibility is treated as part of building a tool rather than as something added afterwards.
We build to WCAG 2.1 level AA and review against it as the site develops.
What we build to
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without content being lost or overlapping.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Text meets AA contrast levels against its background.
- Pages follow a logical heading structure, and form fields carry proper labels.
- Arabic text is marked up as Arabic and set right-to-left, so assistive technology reads it correctly rather than spelling it out.
- The catalogue, the tool pages and the standard tools can be operated by keyboard.
- Printable worksheets are laid out for clear reproduction in black and white.
Where support is more limited
A small number of tools are visual and interactive by nature — those involving drawing, or arranging items on a plan by moving them around. These are designed for pointer or touch input, and support for other input methods is more limited. We are extending this as those tools develop.
If one of them is not workable for you, please get in touch. In most cases we can suggest another tool that produces the same material a different way, or prepare what you need directly.
