The deck said it; now you need it written down

A presentation is a poor place to keep words you want to reuse. The vocabulary you put on eleven slides is the vocabulary you now want as a list; the deck a colleague sent is the reading you now want as a handout; the lesson you built in slides is the scheme of work somebody has asked you to write up. This takes a .pptx and gives you back the text — every slide, in order, with the titles kept as headings.

Speaker notes come too

The notes underneath the slides are usually where the actual teaching is written, and they are the first thing lost when a deck is printed. They come out here alongside each slide, and you can leave them out with a tick if you only want what was on screen.

Arabic comes out the right way round

A deck of Arabic slides poured into a left-to-right document arrives with the punctuation on the wrong end of every line. Paragraphs that are in Arabic are marked as right-to-left in the Word file, so the document opens reading properly rather than needing fixing line by line.

Nothing is uploaded

The file is unpacked inside your browser. It is never sent to us and never stored — which matters when the deck is a colleague's work, or has pupils' names in it. Signing in, where the site asks for it, identifies you to us; it never sends us your file.
