Arabic proverbs rarely survive a literal translation. الجار قبل الدار — "the neighbour before the house" — is not advice about property. This tool gives you both readings: what the words say, and what the saying means when someone actually uses it.

What you get

• A transliteration for learners still working on the script.
• The literal translation and the real sense, kept separate.
• The situation that prompts it — which is what makes it usable rather than merely memorable.
• The nearest English saying, or an honest note that there isn't one.

Genuine proverbs only

The tool is instructed never to invent a proverb, and never to translate an English saying into Arabic and present it as native. Where a saying belongs to one region rather than the whole Arab world, it says so.
