How the level is controlled
Difficulty is adjusted through sentence length, how frequent the vocabulary is, and how much subordination the grammar carries. Content is never dropped to make a passage easier, because a shorter text is not the same thing as a simpler one.

Will it change the meaning?
It is instructed not to: the facts and their order are preserved, and nothing new is invented. Read it through before class all the same — you are the one who knows what the passage is for.
Can I use it on Qur'anic or classical text?
You can level a passage of classical prose. Do not use it to reword the Qur'an itself — for that, work from a published translation or tafsir rather than a machine paraphrase.
